At work in her UK studio, Christine constantly explores new ways of bringing together her passion for drawing; an exuberant use of paint, both oil and acrylic; media such as gold foil and sand and a powerful sense of design and composition to portray her favourite subject….dramatic birds of prey.
Her new work comprises a series of paintings and drawings depicting mainly falcons and eagles. These are large works on canvas up to 2 metres in size, they capture the sheer power, movement and glorious plumage of the birds. The paint is built up in layers, creating a thickly encrusted surface, which is plastered, gouged and drawn into with brush and palette knife, resulting in defiantly contemporary work. The effect is electrifying, the birds hyper-real, filled with energy and attitude.
A few years ago, a local newspaper named me Abu Dhabi's "Color Poet". I've been humbly chasing that eloquent description ever since. Primarily self-taught, I enjoy working in highly-pigmented acrylic paints and regularly incorporate gold leaf, found papers, resin, oil pastels, enamel and the list goes on. I view the process of Art-making as a birth-right, a testament of our fleeting existence, and an ethereal reverence to the Unseen.
Jennifer Simon was born in the UK, grew up in Australia and has lived in the United Arab Emirates since 2000. Born and raised in Athens, Greece. For the past 12 years, I have been living and working around the world (South East Asia, Qatar, Mexico, Ghana, India, Oman, Scotland, London and Athens). I am now based in Abu Dhabi. Through my work I try to explore the surreal nature of seemingly trivial objects, spaces and moments, reflecting the idea that our personal reality is a state of dreaming. I presented work in solo and collective shows in London, Athens, Glasgow, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. My work was also commended at 2012 Sony World Photo Awards and included in the final show at Somerset House in London.
Currently represented in Abu Dhabi by Etihad Modern Art Gallery.

Art is not only my hobby but also part of my everyday life. Since the beginning, my work has undergone lots of evolutions.
My works inspired by pictures I see in different material such as metal and still. My main focus is on human face and emotion that reflect in different material with different postures.
I usually work on different bodies of work concurrently. My artworks are combination of: objects, drawings, paintings, and photographs. I do not limit myself to one medium. I try acrylic, collages, ink, wood, etc. I keep trying different possibilities and styles till I get satisfy with I do. My work is constant effort to find a way to express my feelings with the help of techniques that I learned.
"What makes art attractive?" In my opinion, principles and elements of art help an artist to create and evaluate art.
My art journey start since my childhood which leads me to continue develop myself in art and drawing by attending professional art classes, learning from other artists and self-learning and studying art history movement. I combined my free hand drawing in blind contour, creative drawing and abstract technics with other range of media, color pencils, acrylic and oil color, pastels color different kind of paper, palette knife, brush also my hand, etc
Art is not just my hobby anymore, though it started as one… For me “Art is a medium of meditation” and a time with my soul!!! My artwork explores the relationship between mind, soul, colour and brush. Having said that, my art and I have evolved a lot and are still evolving everyday.
I have tried different mediums of painting & textures over the years and consider them to be an interface with the world around me.
I have experimented with this style by making a rare ‘Contemporary Mosaic/ Tile Art’ using geometric abstract designs & motifs. I hope my work provides pleasure for your soul as well as for your eyes !!
My name is Karen; I am a wife and mother to 2 children. My family and I all live and work here in Dubai. I have always enjoyed all aspects of art, painting and drawing since being at school in England, so, having a grown up family, and finding more time on my hands, I decided to develop my skills further. I have recently completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Lotus Institute in Dubai.
I enjoy all aspects of painting and have worked with most media, including oils acrylics, pastels and charcoal. My current interests lay within Landscapes and Abstract Landscapes. My preference is to paint in oils, however, I believe a good artist can produce all different aspects of art. Please take a moment to experience my art works, and I hope you are able to gain just an ounce of the enjoyment from which I did in producing them.
Since I was a child (5 years old), no one in my family would deny that god gifted me with a great talent. I used to draw, paint and imitate what I see on any paper but mostly be bedroom’s wall. Then, during my elementary school years and junior high, my art teachers noticed me too and that’s when luckily I have participated in many schools art/ painting competitions.
About my art works, the idea was inspired from landscape abstract by taking any landscape scenery picture and tracing its most obvious objects in a way that insures matching visual literacy basics reaching to overall completed composition, while considering eye movement and the golden proportions.
After enlarging the composition with the desired canvas size, colouring stage will start. The colours were typically inspired by the same original picture with little substitution that gives harmonious feeling with better tonality contrast.
My paintings are inspired by my childhood days in India and reflect the Indian culture and ethnicity deeply.I use different textures and media to put emphasis on the subject. I get inspired with the life as a whole.
Art for me is a form of meditation and a form to express life around me. It speaks of my mood and my thoughts, I never plan a painting but rather go with the flow of thoughts and let it take final effect.
Art is considered the beauty of my life.
Every collection which I present in this exhibition have something in common; its contain many images from reality and imagination combined together to create special pieces at least to myself for this moment from;
I use every material that I find interesting and it’s suitable to my subject or theme to complete my vision, from small piece of paper and so on.
My journey to find the beauty of life which is Art is just started; I will continue to create pieces which I hope that they inspire people like they inspire me and made me thrilled, excited and happy in the process of making it.
Art to me is oxygen. My soul will wither away and remain parched if I do not feed it with art as much as I possibly can. The world without art will cease to exist. The appreciation of the flourishing art and culture of the Renaissance era to denouncing and questioning what is beauty and embracing Picasso’s distortion, metamorphosis in time, thought and belief of cultures and civilizations is reflected in art. As Hermann Hesse states, “Everything becomes a little different as soon as it is spoken out loud.” Art is all we have that will remain timeless.
From a technical point of view, I enjoy working with acrylics, oil paints, and mixed media to be able to create different textures and outcomes. I enjoy intricate designs and try and reproduce that in all my artworks since I am attempting to create a style of my own. Whether or not my work is successful, is secondary. What really matters is when my audience looks at my work they must always remember it as something never witnessed before. The prestigious Lotus Educational Institute has brought me to this stage and made me confident about my skills and continue to shape hundreds of students like me to pursue my dream.
My background is Carpet Designing where I studied for my B.A in art. In parallel I have also worked on carpet repairing for some time which means I have always been involved in details of objects.
I have always been painting since I finished high school but at one stage I got very interested in 'blind drawing' which given my background seemed the right fit. Blind drawing is kind of drawing that you would not care about exact replication of objects, you need to follow the lines and shapes. I also rather try to make an emotional connection with the objects I draw to get a sense of their being.
My works on display are form a series called 'Contemplation' where I have combined various contemplating poses with versus from known relevant and meaning full poems. I have also designed the background myself using the Persian word 'thought'.
It was when I felt the magical power of paint in mirroring the hidden beauty of nature, being the sound of the unuttered words or weaving a well-net story with just a touch of a brush.
My medium is painting with Oil. I chose oil as it deeply influences the beholder eye to get connected with every detail of the paint. I get inspired by colors, and my Brush and Knife reflect what I want to deliver as I do believe that a good piece of art is that one which makes the beholder perceives the story behind, it is that one which will hit the chord of people feelings to get them relieved of life burdens, and to hear the voice of their minds even if for a few moments. My love for paint is derived out of my love for people and my passion for doing what can make them happy and inspired.

She has crossed the border between their generations to her creating a world that is continuouslyevolving. Her work is a bold mix of styles and colors and each artwork tells a unique story. She brings a subtle and sophisticated feel to her paintings through special balance of color, composition and texture.
From an early age she had demonstrated extraordinary artistic talent, starting with basic sketches then moving on to her main area of expression: Painting, using very unique techniques and naturalist mediums that she took with her from her Vietnamese upbringing. However, she only recently decided to raise awareness of her artwork to the public since mid-2015. She is skilled with many different canvases; be it paper, glass, wooden, wall or silk.

'I am from the old school of art and prefer a more cautious approach of preparation prior to stating a painting, but once on my way I work with a passion and determination that rises with the hour until the painting is done and quite often I am pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
Lebanese Artist strove to achieve her dream of a Sublime experience in the rocky cliffs and towering woods of northern California, where she studied Fine Arts at Monterey's Peninsula College in 1985. Has lived her entire life between the West and the GCC countries.
Her emotive message is often delivered with opaque, fluid washes of mixed synthetic and natural mediums, sometimes ornamented by refractive films and protruding paint textures – such as diced neon cubes – to evoke an augmented presence. Shell chitin and powdered sea-rock crystals are commonly present in her custom-made palette, in order to accentuate her choice of base acrylic compounds. From Abstract Nature to Portraits and Surrealism…her artworks are a reflection of her mind and her spirit, shaped by a reality she lives in and her Artist’s Identity is apparent in her particular style in all her works.
