moroccan designer LAMIA benhida PREDICTS THE BIGGEST INTERIOR & ARCHITECTURal TRENDS FOR 2018
After all of the different trends we have seen throughout the years, from Scandinavian design to industrial or boho, I think 2018 will be the year in which sustainable and minimal design will be at the forefront.
Sustainable design meaning continuity in space and time. Sustainability is also a synonym for security, safety, and comfort.
In architecture, as in interior design and furnishing, nobility and robustness will be in the frontline. Bronze, concrete, marble and massive wood will be unavoidable. It may seem a bit austere, but ironically interior design trends for furnishing and chromatic palettes are also going to be ultra-punchy and audacious.
I am personally fond of contrast and mixing and matching; I find everything that is the result of different influences very appealing when it is well balanced.
Obviously green will always be in! As a vegetal enthusiast, I would say that anything that can bring a piece of the outdoors inside is most welcome! Plants, paints, fabrics, exotic patterns - go ahead - you can’t be wrong with a little palm tree printed cushion!
Regarding the furnishing trend, retro with a modern twist will be a hit. I think it’s going to be very interesting to see the rise of a new mindset in home decor. Patterns and fabrics will also be interesting - 70’s inspired graphics will be fun, and I am really looking forward to it!
